Cristina Garcia is the author of the National Book Award-nominated Dreaming in Cuban, The Aguero Sisters, and the recent critical and popular hit Monkey Hunting.  Garcia’s background speaks directly to the Hispanic experience in America.  Cuban by birth, she was raised in New York.  Prior to becoming a novelist she worked as a political journalist, serving as Time magazine’s bureau chief for Florida and the Caribbean.  She has been a Guggenheim Fellow, a fellow at Princeton University, and is the recipient of the Whiting Writers Award.
